THE PREDICTABLE TOMORROW

Many people’s future can be accurately predicted. The lifestyles which some young people choose have, over the years, yielded dark outcomes with depressing regularity.

I heard someone saying every old woman or man is a prophetess or prophet. What this man meant is that what older people tell you is out of experience. They have seen a repeat of events over and over. They have been young and some of the mistakes you make today, they have made before and they have, regrettably, seen the bad outcome. They have been to your future, so to speak.

For example, your teachers have written the exams which you are about to write; they have been to universities you are now aspiring to go to. They have gone through friendships you are now struggling with. If you don’t tap into their experiences, you are like one standing by the water kiosk and seeing others drink while you are going thirsty. Listen to them and act on their advice, because they have already been where you are now, and where they are now is your future – so they have been to your future.
