THE POWER OF BELIEVING THAT YOU CAN IMPROVE
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” Albert Einstein
There are times when you look at your results, your abilities, or even your mistakes and quietly tell yourself, “Maybe I am just not good at this.” Perhaps Mathematics or Chemistry has never been your strongest subject. Perhaps you struggle to speak confidently, to concentrate, to make friends, or to perform on the sports field. But one of the most powerful things you can believe is this: “you can improve and become better.”
Look at people who became great. Michael Jordan was famously cut from his high school varsity basketball team, yet he kept working on his game. J.K. Rowling faced rejection before Harry Potter was published. Thomas Edison failed many times while developing the electric light bulb, but he continued experimenting.
Remember: “where you start does not have to determine where you finish.”
Improvement does not mean becoming perfect overnight. It means becoming a little better than you were yesterday. Your current ability is not your final ability. You have to act on that belief. You have to practise when you would rather give up. You have to ask for help when you do not understand. You have to accept corrections without feeling defeated. You have to keep going when the results are not yet showing.
